Do you feel as though different forms of therapy are not helping you to heal from your trauma? Oftentimes when we’ve experienced trauma, we hold so much of our stress in our bodies. You may feel your body tense up and your breathing or heart rate increase when you start thinking about stressful events. Somatic Experiencing can guide you to increase your tolerance for those feelings in your body. Being able to work through the feelings in your body can open the doors for you to process your trauma.
Somatic Experiencing emphasizes the mind-body connection and uses techniques to help us address the mind through the body. It helps us to uncover the bodily sensations that are linked to our traumatic feeling. Grounding yourself in positive feelings and slowly integrating traumatic memories helps us learn to process our trauma.
