Trauma Therapy Clinical Externship Program
Program Details
In this 2 year program you will:
Receive referrals for trauma related concerns on a part-time basis.
(Note: You will gradually build a trauma case load, but the externship program should not be your primary source of income)
Complete learning modules on various trauma related issues including: Working with the military, first responders, attachment trauma, assessing for dissociation, responding to high risk situations.
Participate in monthly group supervision
Participate in monthly individual supervision
Register for and participate in an EMDRIA approved EMDR training
At the end of the two years you can either join our growing network of trauma experts as a Clinical Partner, or you can move into your own private practice.
Who are we looking for?
Must Have:
Graduated from a Master’s Degree program in counselling
Previous experience offering individual therapy
Be willing to work in-person two days a week in Hamilton
Be willing to maintain a minimum of one pro-bono client on your case load
Be willing to complete a vulnerable sector check
Ideal Candidate:
Has background in DBT skills groups
Has worked in the past through a trauma informed lens, and wants to grow their skill set.
Has experience working with religious trauma or working in the LGBTQ community.
