EMDR
Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Treat your trauma through EMDR
Are you struggling to heal from your trauma? Do you feel as though you cannot break through your thought processes surrounding trauma? EMDR is a new form of treatment that addresses the negative trauma response. EMDR is different from other forms of trauma treatment because it allows you to process traumatic memories without talking in depth about them.
During EMDR, your therapist will guide you in moving your eyes back and forth while recognizing the thoughts that arise naturally. Oftentimes we feel stuck when thinking about trauma. It may seem like, no matter how many times you go over the event, it never gets easier. This is partially due to the brain pathways we use when thinking about trauma. Our thoughts can be localized to a fear-response pathway; this limits our ability to think critically and recover from the event. EMDR helps us review these memories using a different brain pathway. Using EMDR, we can eventually reprocess these memories and reduce the negative response caused by them.
